"Padparadscha-type" Fancy Colored Sapphire

[ translate ]

A large cushion-shape fancy colored sapphire with an orange-pink color sometimes known in the gem trade as padparadscha, an unusual name derived from the Sanskrit/Singhalese padma raga or lotus blossom, a reflection of the stone's exotic appearance and similarity to the color of the flower. The combination of large size, pleasing color, excellent luster make this a rare gemstone for the serious collector. Weighing approximately 15.26 carats and measuring 13.89 x 13.29 x 9.07mm

Accompanied by an American Gemological Laboratory report numbered 8088546 dated February 14, 2019 stating that the 15.26 carats fancy sapphire originates from Madagascar and that it shows no indications of heating which is rare as non-heated fancy sapphires are scarce and fancy sapphires are commonly heated to modify their color and appearance.

Accompanied by a C. Dunaigre Switzerland report numbered CDC 1811561 dated November 14, 2018 stating that the 15.26 carats Padparadscha sapphire shows gemological properties consistent with those of Padparadschas from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and that it shows no indications of heating which makes this stone rare.
