Painted panel (1) - oil paints on wooden table - Late 18th century
Wonderful Italian oil painting on wooden panel, from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, entitled 'Si aspetta il Pan della Processione'. Small-sized but beautiful and scenic painting. Religious subject depicting a very 'crowded' scene, so much so as to go beyond its margins and involve the observer. Mannerist pictorial style with very dark but sour colours and not quite proportioned bodies. The brush strokes are small and detailed. In good condition, with two small signs due to ageing on the panel, please look closely at the photos. The frame is not coeval but was later adapted to the painting. The title is written on the back of the work. Painting size without frame: height 20. 9 cm width 19. 4 cm Depth 0. 7 cm
