The work is inspired by a print by the artist Yoshitoshi, Heron Maiden. The story is performed in the Kabuki theater, about a man who rescues a wounded heron and saves it. After a few years, a man meets a woman, it is love at first sight! Her beauty is not the only dowry: she is a very good weaver. The woman creates wonderful fabrics in her room…. in private. Her husband is forbidden to observe her at work. One day, however, intrigued by the light coming out of the next door, the man decided to look at it. At that moment he recognizes the heron he saved years ago. Unfortunately it was the end of their love story, the heron was forbidden to be discovered. Manekistefy loves the metaphors of life expressed in Eastern and Western myths.
