Footnote: One of a pair of nearly identical covered vases in Chinese celadon porcelain is illustrated C. Mestdagh, L Ameublement dart francais 1850-1900, Paris, 2010, p. 98, fig. 92. Described as a vase pagode, the pair was included in the Beurdeley stock liquidation sale of 6-9 May 1895.
A single related example, of slightly larger scale with decorated Chinese celadon porcelain and unmarked mounts attributed to Beurdeley, is in the Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor, no. 198.
Condition Report: Mounts with crisp casting and detailed chasing. With rich mottling to glazing. General marks, scratches, light wear and rubbing. One with a small chipped shallow loss to vertical edge. With darkening to feet. Some oxidation and polish residue to mounts. Looseness in areas.
