Chinese, Tang Dynasty. The pair of Lokopala of sancai glazed earthenware with pigment detailed facial features. Both standing on recumbent bulls. One, an archer with upraised arms aiming and the other with hands holding a sword, both weapons missing. Approx: (larger) h. 31". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Morton & Kathleen Sachs of Louisville, Kentucky, purchased from TK Asian Antiquities (Williamsburg, VA) in 2000 or 2001 for $15,730.
Condition Report: Losses, base chips, crack to base on one figure, other figure has chips to several fingers.
