Pair of Empire Candlesticks A fine pair of French ormolu and bronze late French Empire figural candlesticks dating to the early 19th century, circa 1820. The pair consist of a young maiden and male figure, In one hand, the lady and gentleman hold a branch supporting a candle holder decorated with borders of fruiting vines. In the other hand, they carry a cornucopia of differing forms. The pair stand elegantly or ormolu spherical balls mounted on chiselled triform claw feet decorated with acanthus leave and raised on tripartite bases. The figures are finely modelled, draped in classical garments with clear detail to face and hair. Approximate dimensions: 23 cm high x 12 cm wide x 12 cm deep Condition: Overall, very good condition.
