Pair of Huanghuali Yoke-back Armchairs, China, 17th/18th century, curved crest rails, armrests, and armrest supports, splats decorated with a chilong roundel in relief, rectangular woven mat seats set in frames, round legs, the beaded aprons decorated with floral design in relief, ht. 46 1/2, wd. 26 1/2, dp. 21 in.

Provenance: Malcolm Swenson at Hanover, New Hampshire. Mr. Swenson periodically lived and worked in China from 1974, and many of his furniture collections were featured in the exhibition, Classic Chinese Furniture, jointly organized by Robert Ellsworth (1929-2014) and held in memory of Cui Wei Lian (1935-2004) at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate in 2004.
