Pair of Italian silver candlesticks - Naples, circa 1830
circular shaped base with embossed "cocciolette" decoration, truncated cone-shaped stem, the bobèche with decorations similar to the lower part. Stamped with the mark used by the guild of goldsmiths of Naples for a silver fineness of 833/1000 or 10 ounces, 1832-1872, assayer Gennaro Mannara, and with the mark of an unidentified silversmith "FP". A similar mark was found on a chalice with paten in the cathedral of Nusco dated 1859 (Ref. Elio e Corrado Catello, argenti napoletani page 161). Height 26.5 cm. Total weight 653 gr (314+339 gr). Item condition grading: **** good (in need of polishing).
