Pair of wooden socles in painted gilded carving from the 19th century Gilding is a sculptural technique in which the wood is carved (sculpted) and later gilded. In other words, it is coated with a layer of gold. It became one of the major features of the Baroque of Northern Portugal, as well as the tiles, in the 17th and 18th centuries, especially in the interior of churches and chapels, in altars and altarpieces. For an order of gilding it was necessary to the work of many craftsmen under the guidance of a master. Dimensions: 22 x 11 x 19 cm.
