Pair of Statues of Ananda and Mahakasyapa, Ming
A pair of Chinese bronze statues of Ananda, the attendant of Buddha, and Mahakasyapa, one of Buddha's disciples, dating from the Ming dynasty. Each has a wooden stand. Both statues are standing with their hands together on waisted lotus pedestals, and they are wearing lotus border robes.
Dimensions are: 9 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches wide, 22.9 cm X 8.9 cm. Weight: together both weigh 2700 grams. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Both statues show age appropriate wear including areas of loss, particularly to the pedestals.
Provenance: From a private New Jersey collection.
