An impressive work by Kano Hakuen, beautiful sumi-e painting with color water droplets, skillfully drawn leaping carps, with stunning synergy of both paintings. Kano Hakuen (1642-1726) , of the Kano school, served as a painter for the 5th lord of the Kaga domain, Tsunanori Maeda, and worked on the decoration of Nikko Toshogu Shrine and the production of folding screen paintings sent to Korea.
