Pantomime: Dick Whittington and His Cat, A Panto. in Parvo by Arthur Askey, original typed 1937 script together contemporary with scripts including "The Pirate", "Shiver me Timbers or The Irate Pirate"., "The Babes in the Wood"., together with a 1941 Palace Theatre Shaftesbury Avenue "Jack and Jill" programme with Arthur as Big Hearted Arthur and later typed scenes from miscellaneous Cinderella productions [1] Note - Dick Whittington and his Cat was B.B.C Television's First Grand Christmas Pantomime 1937, written by Arthur and and broadcast from Alexandra Palace studios 27th December 1937 at 9:30pm and 1st January 1938 at 3:30pm starring Queenie Leonard as Dick Whittington [Arthur did not feature in the cast] Note - Jack and Jill: TRHs The Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were taken by their mother HM The Queen to see Jack and Jill on 3rd March 1942. The Princesses told Arthur and Florence Desmond who came to see them during the interval that they were their favourite radio stars, the Princesses were fans of Band Waggon. The Queen told Florence how important it was to have good theatre shows to give people some relief during the war.
