Refined and elegant Masonic Medallion in finely decorated and hand-carved Istrian marble, reproducing the classic Freemasonry symbols (square and compass) with the letter "G" in the centre and other specific symbols all around. The set square is sometimes said to represent matter while the compass symbolizes the spirit or mind. The letter G represents the set square and compass, however, in the Anglo-Saxon world it stands for God. Other valid interpretations are G. A. O. U (the Great Architect of the Universe) or G of Geometry. This one-of-a-kind, hard-to-find lot shows a remarkable patina on the marble. It is easy to hang on the wall. Medium-sized, well-proportioned and not too heavy. The tripod is not included in this lot, but it can be purchased privately at the end of the auction.
