ITEM DESCRIPTION :Hitler's favorite sculptor*Medium : bronze *Sculptor: Arno Breker*The size: 34x50 cm/13.38x19.68"" inches*Wieght - 10 kg | 352.74 ounces Provenance - from our collection (more than 15 years)Detailed video about this item: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FtarIZP6Ft6vEmCH_jr3f_EoOo731pqrAbout the sculptor: Arno Brecker was born into the family of masonry Arnold Brecker and his wife Louise in 1900.Back in school years, in his father’s workshop, he learned how to work as a masons, then he studied at the Elberfeld Craft School.In 1920 he entered the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts, studied architecture under Wilhelm Kreis and sculpture under Hubert Netzer, a student of Adolf von Hildebrand.In 1924, the famous gallery owner Alfred Flechtheim became his official representative and patron.From 1928 to 1932 lived and worked in ParisIn 1936, Brecker met Hitler and Speer.In 1937 he completed the sculpture "Prometheus", installed in the courtyard of the Ministry of Propaganda, as well as busts of Hitler and Goebbels.In 1937, Hitler awarded him the title of professor.On May 1, 1937, Brecker joined the NSDAP.In 1937, Brecker married the Greek woman Demeter Messale, the former model of Maillol, with whom he had lived together for almost ten years.On May 1, 1938, he began teaching at the United State Schools of Free and Applied Arts in Berlin.In November 1940, Vyacheslav Molotov, who visited Berlin on an official visit, gave Brecker the invitation of Stalin to work in the USSR.Along with Georg Kolbe, Fritz Klimsch, Josef Thorak, Brecker was included by Hitler in a special “list of those endowed with a divine gift”, which meant liberation from the call to the front.In 1942, Brecker organized a major solo exhibition at the Orangery in Paris.His solo exhibitions also took place in 1943 in Cologne and in 1944 in Potsdam.After the victory over Germany, sculptures and bas-reliefs located in the Soviet zone were melted or broken. According to the former director of the Oderbruch Museum in Bad Freienwald on the Oder, by Hans Ulrich Engel, in 1949, about 15 bronze sculptures and one bas-relief were taken from Jekelsbruch to Potsdam, and melted in late autumn 1950.In 1945, shortly before the explosion of Goering’s castle, Carinhall, the statues of Brecker “Eos”, “Grace” and “Walking” were dumped in Big Delnsee.
