"Peacock" foldable fan-shaped firewall - Baroque - Brass, Bronze - Late 19th century
Beautiful fan-shaped fire screen known as "peacock tail" in bronze and gilt brass, Rocaille style, Napoleon III period, dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880. French quality work. Decoration of stylised acanthus leaves. 9 panels form the system fan. The brass is openwork with finesse. Beautifully well-preserved condition, perfectly functional. A fastener is probably missing to stabilise the closure on one side.
