One end pearl receives a fine quality screw and the other end pearl a bolt mechanism. The clasp easily functions by gently twisting it counter clockwise to unlock, and clockwise to lock. Upon closure, the screws are fully hidden. At a length of 44cm the necklace sits nicely under the collarbone.
