Wie in den meisten Werken des Malers, ist auch hier der Einfluss der Landschafts- und Figurenmalerei von Jan Brueghel d.Ä. (1568-1625) zu erkennen. Thematisch überwiegen in seinem Werk gerade solche Dorflandschaften mit Figurenstaffage, wobei die warme Farbgebung der Gebäude als typisches Merkmal zu sehen ist.
