Pendant (1) - Gold - 22/23krt - India - 19th century

pendant late Moghul period (1870/1880) in solid gold with synthetic stones the technique in making this piece is called khundun . . this method of working on jewelry is of Persian origin and was taken to India by the Moghul invaders . . the space where the stone will be mounted is made at the hand in a classic way without edges to bend on the stone. . the stone is then placed and a thin strip of gold is hammered following the contours of the edges of the stone . . . then a second strip is hammered on the first while one thickness is not created . . to work the gold like this it must be 22/23 kt this piece has no signs that give it its region of manifestation, but the two heads of peons indicate rajahstan a repair was carried out at the level of the element where we would pass a chain at the top . . . there was probably a small ruby or emerald attached at the bottom
