A Pennsylvania salt glazed stoneware jar, Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, 19th century, the tooled collar and shoulder, stamped COWDEN & WILCOX, HARRISBURG, PA with cobalt blue floral decoration below.
Dimensions:Height 9 1/4in; diameter of rim 6 1/4in; diameter of foot 6 3/4in.
Provenance:From a Chester County estate.
Condition Report: With typicalimperfections and discoloration from firing and glazing. The rim with scattered chips and fleabites, there is a 4.5" vertical hairline crack to the left side, with scattered loss and wear to the cobalt decoration. The lid with a chip on the knob and a 2" flake chip loss to the top of lid.
