Petite 18th C. Islamic Brass Shoe Lamp

Near East, Islamic, ca. late 18th to 19th century CE. A cast-brass oil lamp in the shape of a shoe with a pointed, upturned toe that doubles as the wick spout. The exterior of the lamp is adorned with incised linear and floral motifs that are brought forth with orange-yellow pigment, and a petite handle on the verso is perforated to receive a slender carrying stick. Size: 3.5" L x 1.3" W (8.9 cm x 3.3 cm)
