Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A petite bottle that is free-blown from translucent glass of a yellow-green hue. The vessel has a flat base with a smooth pontil scar, a piriform body with an elongated neck, and a thick rim. The vessel is decorated with a single glass trail that coils around the neck and body several times, and areas of attractive rainbow iridescence have formed along the interior surfaces and can be seen from the outside. Size: 1" W x 2.9" H (2.5 cm x 7.4 cm)

Condition Report: Chips to glass trailing along exterior, with light encrustations, and minor abrasions, otherwise intact and very good. Pontil mark on underside of base. A pontil scar or mark indicates that a vessel was free-blown, while the absence of such a mark suggests that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time. Light earthen deposits and nice rainbow iridescence throughout.
