Pierre Jeanneret
Pair of "High Court" Chairs

circa 1955
model no. PJ-SI-36-A

i: 31¼ x 23¼ x 30 in. (79.4 x 59 x 76.2 cm)
ii: 30¾ x 23¼ x 29½ in. (78.1 x 59 x 74.9 cm)

Condition Report:
Overall in good condition. As is common with Jeanneret designs, the wooden surfaces present with irregularities inherent to the wood selection and expected signs of age. The teak with scratches, abrasions, stable hairline cracks, pinholes, edge indentations and scattered discolorations to the finish throughout consistent with gentle use, as well as occasional evidence of prior sensitive restoration and inpainting.
The proper left of one chair with a slightly more pronounced hairline crack on the outside of the leg measuring approximately about 7 inches long, stable and not visually distracting. The front horizontal beam on the same chair is slightly loose but stable and not visually distracting. The hide upholstery has been sensitively replaced at some point in the history of the chairs and is in excellent condition overall. The upholstery on one chair presents with a slightly warmer coloration than the other.

Provenance:
Chandigarh, India

Acquired by the present owner, circa 2004-2008
