Pine Ridge Agency Presbyterian Indian Mission Sign
Wooden sign, 47.5 x 16.25 in., one side painted and incised with "Pine Ridge / Presbyterian / Indian Mission," with "Pine Ridge / Pres" carved on reverse. The Presbyterian Church established a mission at the Pine Ridge Agency, Dakota Territory, in 1887. The mission grew to encompass four outposts, which were largely operated by women and converted American Indians.
Condition Report: Significant wear and fading to red paint.
