BROWSE CATALOG (copy link) : https: //www. sfogliami. it/fl/238096/8jr1pv76d1rru6kefskr5ynnmzdrt1#page/87 NOTES: Publication of the catalog of works from the Intermidiart collection. Work signed and dated lower left. Certificate of Guarantee and Lawful Origin. Work with gilt frame (Defects) : “… The canvas comes from an important family of Palermo, which has historically held it. The scene, taken from the front, represents the famous Temple of the Dioscuri, painted by a talented foreign painter active in Italy in the late nineteenth century. The work, signed and dated in the lower left, illustrates with great skill an architectural icon present in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. The temple of the Dioscuri was a Greek temple of the ancient city of Akragas (located in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento) . Located a few meters north of the so-called "temple L" and partially rebuilt in the first half of the nineteenth century with pieces from various periods found in the area, it was called "temple of the Dioscuri" or "of Castor and Pollux", sons of Zeus and queen of Sparta. There are only four columns left, due to earthquakes and fires, which have become the symbol of Agrigento. The ruin insists on the north-west corner of a Templar building measuring 31x13. 39 m at the stylobate (the cuts in the rock measure 38. 69x16. 62 m) , which can be reconstructed as a Doric peripteral of 6x13 columns, about the middle of the 5th century century BC The temple had to present the canonical ensemble of the cell terminated by the pronaos and opisthodomos in antis (visible few remains of the crawl space of the foundations, and the cuts in the rock) ; the remains of the geison with rich carved ornamentation placed in the ruin did not originally belong to the temple. Artist with excellent qualities, able to grasp the beauty and the infinite landscape contradictions of that place, the artist in the work of the dazzling beauty and harshness of Sicily, with architecture and nature protagonist with the vision of the ruin associated with the panorama of the valley, represented here with the dazzling use of sunlight. We are faced with a meticulous way in the rendering of naturalistic details, very drawn and chromatically enhanced by a range of particularly bright and almost enamelled colors in their pictorial evidence: an element that proves a certain familiarity with the painting of the Sicilian painter Francesco Lojacono. The same cloisonné effect is found in the brilliant surfaces of Lojacono's paintings. The precious material of color, in fact, applied in small homogeneous touches, according to well-studied tonal overlays (in the Tuscan way) , or strongly chiaroscuro (in the Neapolitan way) , reveals itself in all the plastic evidence of an en plein air "forced ”Within the two-dimensional abstraction of the canvas. However, the quick precisionist brushstroke, which proceeds by essential splashes of color, betrays the conscious hand of a painter by now with solid experiences, but in the mood for daring experimentation, to be ascribed therefore to a moment of free research. Work of good pictorial quality and attention to detail. The pictorial surface shows a patina paint, in addition, the characteristics of the applied color and the trend of the brushstroke can be seen in grazing sunlight. The work of excellent artistic and chromatic yield is in good condition with the signs of aging visible in the photos. Bottom left bears the artist's signature and date (See photo) . Beautifully sized and pleasantly decorated picture, for antique dealers and collectors. Its average market value from 3,000 to 5,000 euros. The painting is accompanied by a certificate of legitimate origin. Any costs for customs procedures will be borne by the recipient ".
