Seven Imari Nanban plates, Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) Decorated in iron red, green, aubergine, yellow and black enamel and gilded on underglaze blue with a roundel in the center depicting a Dutch ship and various Dutch figures. Depicted ships are based on the Dutch ships from around 1700 and the hairstyle and clothing of the Dutch are probably from the mid-18th century than the later period in which these plates were made. The design of the Dutch ships and Hollanders was popular in Imari. These plates have a diameter of 21 centimeters and weigh ~330 grams each. The plates are marked (奇玉宝鼎之珍) on the back. Plate 3 has a stain on the back (see detailed photo) Plate 5 has some discolouration on the front (see detailed photo) Furthermore, some plates have minor damage in the form of small pits or discolourations Pick up possible, or insured shipping via Post.
