Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chimu, Blackware Vessel / Whistle with two spherical chambers with flat bases, a tall cylindrical spout, a bridged stirrup-style handle, and a stylized sea lion head with incised eyes, raised ears, tongue extended, and small holes on either side of animal head | ca. AD 1100 to 1450 |The spout of the vessel doubles as the mouthpiece for a whistle, the tone of which is produced through the perforations in the animal's head.
