Pre-Columbian Inca Copper Mace Heads (pr)

[ translate ]

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1400 to 1532 CE. A fine pair of cast-copper mace heads, each of a circular form with a sizeable, central hafting hole. The larger presents a smooth exterior, while the outside surface of the smaller head has been pressed with a textile to create a light stippling effect in areas. The minimalist design of these weapons suggest they were used on the fields of battle rather than in ceremonial contexts. Size (of larger): 1.8" in diameter x 1.4" H (4.6 cm x 3.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-Drimmer collection, Florida, USA, acquired before 1965

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

Display stands not described as included/custom in the item description are for photography purposes only and will not be included with the item upon shipping.

#165259
Condition Report: Expected abrasions, commensurate with age and use. Otherwise, both are intact and excellent with lovely patina.
