Property from an Important Private Collection Anthology of poetry, Qajar Persia, 19th century, Persian manuscript on paper, 131 leaves plus 2 fly-leaves, 13 lines to the page, written in black nasta’liq within clouds against a gold ground, within 2 columns, ruled in black, red, gold and blue, titles in white or light blue against a gold ground within cartouches, in light brown binding with stamped sections, Text panel 18.5 x 11.5cm.; leaf 24.5 x 16cm. Provenance: An ownership note reads: ‘purchased in Isfahan, Persia, 1901; Bookplate of Oliver Henry Perkins, Des Moines, Iowa (d.1902) on the marbled paper doublure; Probably HK Kevorkian (the inventory blue sticker on the marbled paper doublure reading’1423’) Note: A note in pencil on f.1a reads “Selection of poetry written from Fath Ali Shah Qajar, in 1222 H, by the poet SAHAB”.
Condition report: In overall fair condition, incomplete and missing beginning and end, minor smudges and stains, losses to the illumination, minor damages to the binding, later ownership notes, as viewed.
