Qing Dynasty Pair of Famille Rose Phoenix Tail Vase W/Spring Forest Scene (From a Vietnamese Royal Family) - This pair of porcelain vases are of typical Fengweizun form with a widely flaring, scalloped trumpet neck resembling a phoenix tail, resting on a large globular body with a footed base. The vases are decorated in the famille rose style with an ornate spring forest scene of phoenix among chrysanthemums and other floral blossoms. The vases are also finished with molded fu lion handles and the base bear the double circle mark in underglazed blue, typical of the Kangxi period when the use of nianhao (imperial reign marks) was suspended. This piece comes from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam).
