RABBI ARYEH LEVIN OF YERUSHALAYIM LETTER TO RABBI AVRAHAM ABA WERNER, RABBI OF MACHZIKEI HADASS, LONDON. HANDWRITTEN SIGNED LETTER.

In this letter, dated 1910, Rabbi Aryeh Levin reminisces nostalgically on the enjoyable Pesach festival he spent with Rabbi Werner in London the previous year, and includes Torah novella on Tractate Pesachim. Reb Sender Herman adds his greetings to Rabbi Werner.

Rabbi Aryeh Levin (1885-1969), born near Bialystok and studied at the Volozhin Yeshiva before settling in Eretz Yisrael in 1905. Son-in-law of Rabbi David Shapira of Kovno, Mashgiach at Etz Chayim in Yerushalayim, renowned and respected for his outstanding kindness and saintly generosity to people in need and known as ‘the Rabbi of the Prisoners’ due to his exceptional efforts to help Jewish prisoners.

Rabbi Avraham Aba Werner (1837-1913), Dayan of Telz (1869), Chief Rabbi of Finland (before 1885) and from 1891 first Rabbi of the Machzikei Hadass strictly orthodox community in the East End of London.
