RABBI ELAZAR SHAPIRA, RABBI OF BEREGKOVESD (KIVIASHD), HALACHIC LETTER TO RABBI YEHOSHUA BUKSBAUM OF GALANTA. HANDWRITTEN SIGNED LETTER.

Letter dated 1932, discussing halachic questions regarding the Mikva in Beregkovesd. Rabbi Shapira writes that he has raised this before Rabbi Shmuel Engel of Radomishl but he declined to issue his ruling and told him that the Rebbe of Koloshitz had also recently refrained from becoming involved in questions regarding Mikvaos.

Rabbi Elazar Shapira (1888-1973), son of Rabbi Mordechai of Bircz, a descendant of the Bnei Yissaschar of Dinov. Son-in-law of (I) Rabbi Chayim Zeida Hager of Radowitz and (II) Rabbi Yosef Eichenstein of Tarnopol. Rabbi of Beregkovesd (1920), and after WWII Rabbi of Kiviashd Beth Hamedrash in New York.

Rabbi Yehoshua Buksbaum (1877-1944), disciple of Rabbi Moshe Yosef Hoffman of Papa and of Rabbi Shmuel Rosenberg of Unsdorf. Rabbi of Magendorf (1910) and Galanta (1922), where he headed a large and famous Yeshiva. Author of Or Penei Yehoshua.
