RARE! MANUSCRIPT SIGNED LETTER FROM RABBI SHALOM SAFRIN, REBBE OF KOMARNO, TO RABBI PINCHAS ZELIG HACOHEN SCHWARTZ.

In this letter, written in poetic style, the Rebbe of Komarno thanks Rabbi Schwartz for his work on the laws of Sefiras Ha’Omer and informs him that he is sending a copy of a newly published work of his grandfather, Damesek Eliezer, in return.
Rabbi Shalom of Komarno passed away at a young age and only served as Rebbe for eight years; as a result, very few of his letters are known.

Rabbi Shalom Safrin (1893-1937), son of Rabbi Yaakov Moshe of Komarno and son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael Perlow, the ‘Yenuka’ of Stolin. A disciple of his grandfather Rabbi Eliezer Tzvi of Komarno, revered for his Torah, wisdom and piety. Succeeded his father as Rebbe of Komarno in 1929.

Rabbi Pinchas Zelig Schwartz (1877-1944), son of Rabbi Naftali Schwartz of Mad, Moreh Horo’ah in Kleinwardein and author of halachic and biographical works, including Shem Hagedolim L’eretz Hagar’ – the biographical lexicon of Hungarian Rabbis.
