The French silversmiths Ravinet d’Enfert were located in Paris for more than a century at the Hotel de Caumartin, 83 rue du Temple in the Marais or 3rd District of Paris. Founded in 1845 by E. Tonnelier, the firm was acquired in 1882 by Louis Ravinet (1854-1925). In 1891, Charles d’Enfert (1865-1960) entered into a partnership with Louis Ravinet and the firm took the denomination of Ravinet d’Enfert. The firm specialized in production of flatware and tableware products in 950 sterling silver and are know for their Art Deco designs. The firm participated on a regular basis in exhibitions and received numerous prestigious awards: gold medals at the Lyon Universal Exhibition in 1894 and Brussels in 1897. Ravinet d’Enfert exhibited in the International exhibitions of 1900, 1925 and 1937, and obtained a silver medal in Brussels in 1958. Ravinet d’Enfert discontinued its activity in 1984. This set is in excellent condition and is of very high quality. It is a stunning example of the firm's high quality original Art Deco designs which were the hallmarks of the firm's international reputation. Each piece bears the French Government's Head of the Minerva - 1 Hallmark, certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver plus the Ravinet D'Enfer manufacturer's hallmark.
