ROLEX
GMT-Master, Ref. 1675
A Stainless Steel Wristwatch with Bracelet Circa 1972

Dial: black
Caliber: cal. 1575 automatic, 26 jewels
Case: stainless steel, screw-down back
Closure: Rolex Oyster bracelet and folding clasp
Dimensions: 40 mm, bracelet circumference approx. 180 mm
Signed: case, dial and movement
Case numbers: ref. 1675 / serial: 3167741

The longest running GMT-Master reference in Rolex’s archives, the 1675 was first introduced in 1959 and remained a part of the catalog until 1980. Due to its long production span, the GMT-Master 1675 can be found with a wide assortment of variations, and this example from 1972 offers plenty for the discerning collector. The fat-font red and blue “Pepsi” bezel insert has faded to a desirable hue over the years, and the tritium hour markers on the hands and excellent condition MK2 matte black dial have developed a warm patina over the years. The “Pepsi” 1675 is the archetypical GMT-Master reference, and this example is a fantastic representation of the quintessential Rolex pilot’s watch.

Condition Report:
This ref. 1675 GMT-Master has an estimated production date of approximately 1972. The original MK2 matte black dial is in superb condition, and the luminous material on its hands and hour markers has developed a warm and desirable patina. The watch and bracelet are in excellent overall condition and free from all significant signs of damage. The “Fat Font” bezel insert is slightly faded in color.

Sotheby’s Watches Department is pleased to offer Condition Reports to potential purchasers. A Condition Report is an opinion describing the lot in more detail with regard to, but not limited to the general condition, quality of the watches and/or other relevant information.
