ROLEX SUBMARINER DATE REF. 1680 “RED" MK IV, CIRCA 1971
Case: signed, n. 2701017, three-body in stainless steel, screw back stamped 1680 and marked I.70, bezel with black insert graduated up to 60 minutes, 7mm Twinlock crown with guards.
Bracelet/Strap: Rolex Oyster in steel ref. 9315, flip-lock extensible deployant “pateted” marked 4.71, end-link 280.
Dial: signed, black: Submariner red writing, luminescent indexes, minutes/seconds divisions, date indication, luminescent skeletonized hands, centre seconds.
Movement: signed, self-winding cal. 1570 (1575), n. D847340, 26 jewels, rhodium-plated, monometallic balance with Microstella screws adjusted to five positions and for temperature, Breguet free-sprung hairspring, hack-mechanism.

Diameter Ø: 40 mm

Marketed since 1967, the reference 1680 was the first Submariner to integrate the date indication. The early models featured the word "Submariner" in red, which was subsequently printed in white, and that led collectors to assign them the nickname "Red Sub".
