ROLEX
Submariner, Ref. 16610LV
A Stainless Steel Wristwatch with “Flat 4” Bezel and Bracelet, Circa 2004

Dial: black
Caliber: Cal. 3135 automatic, 31 jewels
Case: stainless steel, screw-down back
Closure: stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet and folding clasp
Dimensions: 40 mm, bracelet circumference approx. 180 mm
Signed: case, dial and movement
Case numbers: ref. 16610LV / serial: F295681

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner model in 2003, Rolex introduced the Submariner 16610LV with a green colored aluminum bezel and a black “Maxi” dial that featured larger hands and hour markers. This was the very first time Rolex fitted a green bezel (or “Lunette Verte” in French) on a Submariner and the 11610LV has since picked up the “Kermit” nickname among collectors. This particular example of the Anniversary Submariner includes the sought-after “Flat 4” bezel, characterized by a flatter looking “4” numeral in the “40” on the bezel, which only made an appearance on the early green anniversary bezel inserts. The watch features a stainless steel Oyster case water resistant to 300 meters, a steel Oyster bracelet with a diver’s extension, and a black dial with luminous hands and hour markers. Rolex ceased production of the Submariner 16610LV in 2010. Due to its anniversary designation, distinct colorway, and relatively short production run, the 16610LV has risen to collectible status; and this one is an early example with the coveted “Flat 4” bezel.

Condition Report:
The original dial and hands of this ref. 16610LV Submariner are in excellent condition and the case and bracelet are free from all significant marks and scratches. Additionally, included with this ref. 16610LV Submariner is the original box and hang tags.

Sotheby’s Watches Department is pleased to offer Condition Reports to potential purchasers. A Condition Report is an opinion describing the lot in more detail with regard to, but not limited to the general condition, quality of the watches and/or other relevant information.
