Organised in Grenoble in 1968, the Ice Hockey discipline held a very special place that year as not only was the discipline rewarded by an Olympic title but it also served as the European and World championships combined, what a unique opportunity and motivation for all the teams involved. As a partner of the events, Rolex launched the FairPlay Cup in 1963 to rewards the team and the players that had the least penalties and were rewarded with a Rolex Datejust with a specially engraved caseback and its most unusual accessories such as the Hockey Rink box and the puck. Only a handful of these have appeared on the market and offer a rare glimpse into the world of Rolex sponsorship.
