ROYAL AND MILITARY ORDER OF SAINT HERMENEGILDO
A Spanish Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegildo, ca. 1940-50. A four armed cross in bronze gilt with ball finials, the arms bearing engraved ornamental knight's helmets and flags, with clusters of beaded rays in each quadrant. The center bears a figure of St. Hermenegildo on a blue enameled background, surrounded by a white enameled border inscribed PREMIO A LA CONSTANCIA MILITAR ("Award to the Military Constancy"), with a green enameled laurel wreath surrounding. Reverse with pin assembly and dual stays, measuring 3.125 in. wide x 3.125 high. Tiny repaired chip to white enamel, else fine.
