ROYLAND SOUTHGATE FLINTLOCK PISTOL

Contemporary Flintlock pistol produced by Tennessee Gunsmith Royland Ives Southgate. 10 inch octagon barrel of .45 cal, rifled. Brass/ bronze flint lock with R. Southgate in script below pan. Matching brass trigger guard and single rod pipe. Two engraved German silver diamond inlays on grip and two corresponding German silver inlays on the opposing side of the lock. The stock appears to be of Cherry. The barrel is marked R+ SOUTHGATE with simple blade front sight and fixed rear sight. Very fine original condition with a sliver of wood missing from the front left side of the stock at the muzzle. No number was found during disassembly, sear is chipped and cock will not stay back at full. BLACK POWDER
