Whitby," artist's name, and date on an unattributed label in ink on the stretcher, sticker from Renjeau Galleries, Worcester, Massachusetts, affixed to frame. Oil on canvas, 16 x 24 in., framed. Condition: Lined, craquelure, scattered minute accretions.
N.B. The inscription on the label possibly once read "E.R. near Whitby." E.R. could stand for the Esk River, which empties into the North Sea at Whitby and was once host to a large freshwater ecosystem including pearl mussels and various species of trout.
