Lithograph , Fabriano Cotton paper, dimensions: 76 x 56 cm, limited edition, author's piece, signed in pencil by the author p.d.Ramon Dilley is a fascinating figure in the art world, a painter whose work remarkably combines the spirit of old France with a modern, post-impressionist sensibility. He was born in Madrid in 1933. At the age of three, fleeing the Spanish Civil War, his family settled in France, in the fashionable seaside resort of Royan. It was there, surrounded by the Parisian elite vacationing, that his artistic vision was formed. In the 1960s, at the request of art dealer Maurice Rheims, he adopted the pseudonym Ramon Dilley, under which he gained international recognition.Dilley's works are like colorful snapshots of French "belle époque" life and the 1930s. His paintings are characterized by a :Post-Impressionist style: He uses vivid, saturated colors and free, though refined, brushstrokes. They are dominated by elegant figures, usually upper-class women, captured in stylish holiday settings and the artist's favorite plein air locations are legendary French resorts and cities such as Deauville, Cannes, Nice and the streets of Paris. Despite their apparent carefree and lightheartedness, his paintings carry a hint of nostalgia and melancholy for a bygone era, which gives them a deeper dimension.Dilley has exhibited his works all over the world, and has won praise from many collectors who have acquired his works, including the ducal palace in Monaco. The fixtures shown in the visuals are for illustrative purposes and do not constitute a commercial offer.
