Rare Greek Daunian Pottery Two-Level Jar

Greek colonies in South Italy, Apulia / Daunian, ca. 300 BCE. A ceramic vessel for holding liquid, with a bulbous lower body, a bulbous neck, and a small, flaring neck and mouth. Three small vertical loop handles are on the shoulder. The neck, upper body, and mouth are all decorated with painted black and red lines, with the black lines in the form of waves. Many Daunian vessels, like this one, were ornamented with bands of geometric decoration called listati. Size: 5.8" W x 9" H (14.7 cm x 22.9 cm); 9.25" H (23.5 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition Report: Repaired at rim from two small pieces. Very nice preservation of motifs. Light surface wear commensurate with age but overall really nice condition for its age and material.
