Rare Kentucky 3/Conroy German Silver Casting Reel

A solid German silver casting reel with dual stamps on the head cap, one that reads "Kentucky 3", the other "Thos. J. Conroy - Maker - N.Y.", measuring 2" in diameter with a 1 1/4" wide spool. Likely built by Milam for Conroy, the reel features fixed bearing covers, sliding click and drag switches that both work well, and a dog leg style counter-balance handle with original grasp and three bands of fine knurling along the head cap rim. The full-length foot is a bit loose, perhaps due to the very small diameter screws used to attach to the pillars, otherwise this rare marked example is in VG-/VG overall, with light rim dings and hairlines to the handle grasp.
