[ translate ]

Heading: (Photographs)
Author: Pillsbury, Arthur C.
Title: Silver Road to Yosemite
Place Published: Yosemite
Publisher:Pillsbury's Pictures
Date Published: c.1920's
Description:

Silvertone photograph on glass. 27.5x17.5 cm (10¼x6¾"), framed, with Pillsbury label on the back of the frame.

Rare silvertone photograph, much less common than his more characteristic than Pillsbury's orotone (goldtone) photographs on glass. There is an ink inscription on the paper backing the frame, "Given to us as a wedding gift in 1928 by Don & Mary (Cury [sic]) Tressi[der]. Mary Cury of Camp Curry (Yosemite)." The paper backing the frame has been partially removed, with a few chips and tears, affecting a bit of this inscription and the label. Mary Curry was the daughter of "Mother" Jennie Curry and David Curry, founders of Camp Curry in Yosemite Valley in 1899, and grew up in Yosemite Valley. Yosemite became her home at age five.
Condition Report: A little rubbing in the emulsion in a few places around the edges, not very noticeable; very good or better.
