Rare Redifor Model X Casting Reel
Advertised as a "Combination Fly & Bait Reel", this circa 1910 multiplying reel has a 2 1/4" diameter and a 1 1/4" wide spool, with tail plate stamped with four patent numbers below the Redifor - Warren, O mark. The catalog advertising claimed this was constructed of 18% German silver, with the remaining component Magnalium. The unique handle, part of the patent issued to George Upton in 1906, was in large part the reason the reel was touted as a fly reel, since the line couldn't foul under the handle as with standard casting reels of the day. With an unaltered nickel silver foot, sliding click switch that works well and a screw-off end cap, a VG overall condition reel with scattered nicks and light scratches, as well as one replaced tail plate screw.
