LOT 275 | FIERET, Gerard...

Rare! Vintage nude self-portrait by Fieret

[ translate ]

- FIERET, Gerard (Dutch 1924 - 2009). Nude self-portrait, c. 1960s. Gelatin silver print, with copyright stamp 'Foto & copyright by Gerrit Petrus Fieret' (on the reverse). Minor wear to edges and corners, right corners creased, several small spots of surface grime, overall in good condition.

Notes: "His photographs reveal his tendency to repetition and indefatigable urge to experiment. In search of interesting effects, he played with the rules of the various photographic development and printing processes. He threw nothing away, not even obvious failures. At the same time, he rarely printed a negative more than once and, on the odd occasion when he did so, none of the prints are ever identical. A Gerard Fieret photograph is invariably a one-off" (source: Fotomuseum Den Haag). Although Fieret is well known for his portraits of scarcely clothed women, he rarely photographed himself in the nude. We have not been able to trace another full-length nude self-portrait. Dimensions: 29.5 x 24.5 cm. Artist Name: FIERET, Gerard (Dutch 1924 - 2009).
