Raymond James Coxon (British, 1896 - 1997)

Picnic with Wife. Oil on canvas, depicting a picnic with artist's wife Edna Ginesi, signed in the lower left corner, linen fillet, framed in wood frame, overall 28 ¼" x 33 ¼". Provenance: acquired directly from the artist, private collection, Pittsburgh, PA.

Raymond Coxon enrolled at the Leeds School of Art, the Royal College of Art, and became a teacher in the Richmond School of Art. He had a long and successful career. During WWII, the War Artists' Advisory Committee (WAAC), the Royal Navy and Army commissioned Coxon to produce some paintings of Army subjects in Britain.
