Recens Edita totius Novi Belgii, in America Septentrionali siti, delineatio cura et sumtibus Matthæi Seutteri, Sac. Caes. Maj. Geographi August. Vind. Cum Gratia et Privil. S.R.I. Vicariat in part, Rheni, Sveviae, et Juris Franconici, measures 31 7/8 x 28 5/8 inches, window measures 23 1/4 x 20 inches, gold and black toned wood frame, surface wear to frame, professionally framed, not examined out of frame. Copper-engraved map, with full original colour, in very good condition. An excellent example of the third state of Seutter's important map of the American northeast with the famous 'Restitutio' view of New York City. A fine example of one of the much-pirated Jansson-Visscher New England series of maps, first published by Visscher in 1651. The present plate was first published by Seutter in 1730, and `is the first map in the [Jansson-Visscher] series to show . the boundaries of Massachusetts, New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.'
