Relief, tabernacle door - "Flagellation of Christ" - Gilt, Wood - Late 15th century

Rare tabernacle door in gilded and lacquered carved wood. High-quality and very rare work In good state of preservation. A part from the base, I’d like to report a cut of the panel on its external edge and also a cut of its depth. The pictorial part and decoration was performed with a Renaissance technique called "a sgraffio" which consisted of the writing on the table of several layers of colour that once dry allowed through the use of an acuminate tip to engrave the top revealing out the part below. An irrelevant architectural element has been removed at the top of the border. Size: 44 x 26 cm
