Rembrandt Harmensz. Van Rijn (1606-1669), after - Mendicanti ricevono elemosine alla porta di una casa
Beautiful anonymous engraving that takes up the same direction as Rembrandt's etching depicting a group of three beggars knocking at the door of a house.
Copy with good margins, on laid paper with watermark, in very good condition, some folds and residues of gluing at the corners on the verso (see photo) .
Signed and dated lower right "Rembrandt f. 1648"
An unusual engraving in the figure of the boy with his back turned to the viewer, creating a whole emphasized by the dense shading on the left side in contrast with the white on the opposite side. Perhaps inspired by the "Eulenspiegel" by Lucas von Leyden, which depicts a similar situation and which Rembrandt had purchased a few years earlier. One of Rembrandt's depictions of episodes from the daily life of peasants and beggars, very popular among artists and collectors.
for the hour. Bartsch 176; Hind 233; White and Boon 176.
